QUESTIONS

What are the festival dates? 

Mark your calendar as Afro Nation kicks off on July 3rd, 2026, and the vibes will be flowing strong until late on July 5th, 2026. Three days of pure magic on the beach – don’t miss it!


Where is the festival?

We’re turning up the heat at Praia da Rocha beach, Portimão, in the stunning Algarve, Portugal. Sun, sand, and the hottest beats. 


What age do I have to be? 

Afro Nation is an 18+ event. You'll need valid ID to get in and grab a drink at the bar. No exceptions! 


What do I need to bring to guarantee entry? 

For smooth sailing into Afro Nation, don’t forget:  

  • Your printed ticket or e-ticket to exchange for a wristband.
  • A valid photo ID (make sure the name on your e-ticket matches your ID)
  • And of course, good vibes!


What constitutes a valid photo ID? 

We’re talking passport or driving license – any form of ID with a photo that proves who you are. 


What are the festival times? 

The party starts at 4pm and doesn't stop until late!


Are lockers available on-site? 

There are no lockers at Afro Nation. We recommend packing light and keeping your essentials with you so you can stay hands-free and focused on the vibes!


Are there cash machines on site? 

There are no cash machines at Afro Nation. You can find ATMs in Portimão for Euros if needed. 


How do I pay at Afro Nation? 

No cash, no cards – it’s all about the wristband! Top up your wristband before Afro Nation with one of our festival credit packages, or at one of our top-up stations on-site. Our packages will be available closer to the festival date!


How do I become a vendor at Afro Nation Portugal?

Do you run a shuttle bus service?  

We don’t run a shuttle bus service, but don’t worry - taxis and Ubers are available.

When can I buy my ticket?

What is the difference between ticket releases? 

There’s no difference in perks between ticket releases – the earlier you get your ticket, the more you save. Prices rise as more tickets drop, so don’t dull!


When will I receive my festival ticket? 

Your electronic ticket(s) will be available in your account no later than 5 days before the festival; providing your balance is fully paid and ticket details correct. You will find your ticket in 'Your Account' at www.afronation.com/bookings. Print it out or keep it on your smartphone – your call! 


How do I know if my ticket is valid? 

Only tickets purchased from this website www.afronation.com are legit. Please do not purchase your ticket from any other website, and ensure to steer clear of resellers to avoid counterfeit tickets. 


Can I upgrade my ticket? 

If you would like to upgrade your experience, please contact our support team here and we'll be happy to assist you. 

If you’re on a Payment Plan, you’ll need to finish paying it off before upgrading – but no stress, you can always reach out to clear your balance early and unlock those bigger vibes.


Can I change the name on my ticket(s)? 

Yes! For a €30 fee, you can change the name on your ticket. Please note, you can only make one change per ticket, so double-check those details before submitting. All payments must be finalised before requesting a name change. 


What’s the deadline to change the name on my ticket(s)? 

June 10th, 2026 is the final cut-off for all name changes! To update your ticket, make sure we receive both your payment and new details by then. Miss the deadline, and your original ticket info stays locked in. 


Are there any table packages available? 

Yes, our iconic Sky Terrace packages are now available here! Get ready for premium views, exclusive vibes, and the best seat in the house. 


Where do I collect my festival wristband? 

You’ll swap your e-ticket for a festival wristband at the main entrance! The exact location will be highlighted on our site map, dropping straight to your inbox before Afro Nation Portugal kicks off. 


Can I collect a wristband on behalf of my friend or a member of my booking?

No can do, each ticket holder must exchange their own e-ticket for a wristband in person. Make sure to bring valid ID that matches your ticket details. 


What happens if I lose my wristband? 

Keep it safe and sound – lost or broken wristbands can’t be replaced. Take care of your wristband throughout the festival so you can keep the party going! You'll need your wristband ID to collect your remaining balance after the festival!

Which payment methods do you accept?

American Express, Discover, Maestro, Visa, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard. 


Do I need to create an account to book? 

Yes! You’ll need to create an account to book your Afro Nation tickets online. Already part of the family? You can use your existing account to log in and check out. 


Will I have to pay a booking fee? 

Yes, a 14% booking fee will be added at the checkout. 


Do you offer Booking Protection? 

We’ve got you covered with optional booking protection through Xcover (Cover Genius). Just make sure to select it at the checkout, as it can’t be added afterwards. Please take a moment to review the full terms before purchasing to be sure you're happy with the cover!


Can I book for a friend or relative? 

Yes you can. Just nominate a lead booker and make sure you enter the correct details for each ticket holder when you book.


Who's the lead booker? 

The lead booker is the person who made the booking or the one you picked to look after it. We only deal with the lead booker when it comes to questions or changes, so please use the email linked to the booking to get in touch.


Can I pay in installments? 

Yes, you can! Just pick the payment plan at checkout to spread out the cost. Your first payment goes through straight away, then monthly payments will follow. Payment plans are open until Friday, May 29th, 2026. 


Is there a payment plan fee? 

Yes, there’s a fee based on how many tickets you’re buying and your ticket type. You’ll see the exact amount in your statement before you finish your purchase.


Can I change my payment plan? 

No changes once it’s confirmed, but you can always reach out early to pay off your balance and lock in your spot. Just make sure you’re happy with your plan before you finalise your purchase!


Can my group pay for their ticket separately? 

We don’t do split payments. All charges go through the lead booker’s card.


How do I update my payment details? 

Just log in to your account to update your card info. Keep it fresh to avoid any payment issues and ensure your details are updated well before your next payment due date. 


What if I miss a payment? 

If a scheduled card payment doesn’t go through, we’ll automatically retry it every 7 days, up to three attempts. If all three attempts are unsuccessful, the payment plan will end and the remaining balance will need to be paid in full by logging into your account. Unfortunately, payment plans can’t be restarted after this point. To avoid any disruption, please make sure your card details are up to date and sufficient funds are available. You’ll receive email notifications from our payment partner, Easol, ahead of upcoming payments and if any payment issues occur.


When is my last payment due? 

Your final payment is due according to your chosen payment plan, or immediately if you paid in full at booking. If a scheduled payment doesn’t go through, we’ll retry it up to three times. Should all three attempts be unsuccessful, the remaining balance will need to be paid in full. If the balance remains unpaid 14 days after the third failed attempt, your booking may be cancelled and the reserved ticket released for resale. Any payments already made are non-refundable, so we recommend keeping your payment details up to date to ensure your booking stays secure.


What if my payment fails but I have enough money in my account? 

If your payment fails but you’ve got enough funds, reach out to our customer support team right after the first failed payment. We’ll help sort it out before your next one’s due.


What if my card payment fails at checkout? 

If your card gets declined, check with your bank first. Sometimes 3D Secure glitches cause this. Make sure your bank has your latest contact info. Also, try using a different browser and clear your cookies and cache before trying again.


How do I view my booking or log into 'My Account'? 

The lead booker can log in at www.afronation.com/bookings to check the booking, make payments, and download tickets when they are available. 


What if I forgot my password? 

No worries, just hit the ‘Forgot Password’ link on the login page to reset it.


What if my confirmation email is incorrect or missing? 

Contact us within 48 hours if there’s an issue with your confirmation or if you didn’t get it. We’ll sort it out. 


Can I get a refund or cancel my booking? 

If you have booking protection with XCover (Cover Genius), you may be eligible for a refund by successfully submitting a claim. Without booking protection, tickets are non-refundable. You can cancel your booking at any time, but any payments already made will not be refunded.  


Can I change the number of tickets in my booking?

We cannot remove any tickets from your booking once you've secured your spot. However, we can change the name one time for a €30 fee prior to June 10th 2025. 


How do I cancel my booking? 

Submit your cancellation request at least 7 days prior to your next installment here or email us at hello@afronation2026.com.

Which airport should I fly to? 

Fly into Faro International Airport – it's the closest and connects to major hubs across Europe, the Caribbean, America, and Africa. 


Where should I book my accommodation? 

The Algarve is a highly sought-after destination with a plethora of fantastic hotels, villas, and apartments. To be closer to the festival action, we recommend choosing accommodation in these areas: Portimão, Alvor, Carvoeiro, Lagoa. Your festival experience is about to get even better!

Can I camp at Afro Nation? 

While we don’t have camping, the cities surrounding the festival are full of places to stay! Book your spot early and stay close to the action – hotel rooms go fast! 


How long should I stay? 

Afro Nation is more than just a festival - it’s a holiday! We recommend arriving a few days early to soak up the pre-festival vibes and staying a few days after to chill and recover. 


How can I safely store belongings? 

Most hotels have safety deposit boxes in the rooms, though some may charge a small fee. Ask your accommodation when booking for the details. 

What is the local language? 

The main language spoken in Portimão is Portuguese, but you’ll catch English, French, and many other languages around. 


How hot is it in Portimão? 

Portimão heats up to around 25°C in July with around 12 hours of sunshine. 


What’s the best way to get to Afro Nation? 

If you’re not within walking distance, hop in a taxi, Uber, or rent a ride to get to Praia da Rocha Beach. 


What are the parking options near Praia da Rocha Beach? 

There’s public parking around, but it can get packed quickly. It's best to come early or catch a local ride.   


Where can I find food and drinks near Praia da Rocha Beach? 

If you’re craving local Portuguese flavours or international bites, there’s many bars, restaurants, and cafes to choose from. 


What should I know about local safety and health services? 

Portimão, has you covered with medical facilities and pharmacies. For emergencies outside of the festival, dial 112.  


Where can I exchange currency? 

Exchange your cash at local banks, exchange spots, or ATMs in Portimão. Most places accept cards, but having some Euros on hand is always a good idea. 


Can I use my mobile phone and internet while in Portimão? 

Mobile and internet services are solid. Just make sure your plan covers international roaming or grab a local SIM card for the best rates. 

Can I bring food and drink to the festival? 

No outside food or drinks are allowed. However, bring an empty plastic hydration pack as there are water points available inside the festival site. 


Can I bring my camera into the festival? 

Leave the pro cameras at home. If you need a press pass, hit us up here. 


Can I sell merchandise at the festival? 

Selling without our approval isn’t allowed. If you want to be an approved vendor, hit us up here. 


Will I be searched upon entry? 

Yes. 


Can I leave and re-enter the festival? 

Ticket holders may be refused re-entry if they decide to leave during our opening hours.

  • Flagpoles / windbreaks / tents / chairs
  • Dogs (except guide/service dogs)
  • Bicycles / Scooters
  • Aerosols
  • Laser pens or pointers
  • Drones
  • Any other items which may reasonably be considered for use in an illegal or offensive manner, or which may cause danger or disruption to any person at the event.


Rules applicable to the entry of prescription medicines into the premises: 

The medication must be in its original packaging, with a medical prescription in the name of the ticket holder, duly supported by an identity card. Including for EpiPens, inhalers and refill cartridges. Whenever possible, customers should limit the amount of medication to the quantity required.  Medical cannabis is prohibited. 

The Security Forces and Services, other authorities and the organiser may refuse access to the event, even if the above conditions are met. They may also change the above items at any point in time due to safety concerns.


What happens if prohibited items are found?

We may take one of the following actions:  

  • Confiscation 

  • Refusal of entry 

  • Eviction 

  • Police report

Permitted Bags 

Small bags, bumbags, or purses no larger than A4 size (21cm x 29.7cm) 

Not Permitted  

Large backpacks, duffel bags or suitcases  

Any bag exceeding the size limits 

Please note that bringing a bag may slow down your entry time due to searches and we recommend bringing only essential items to the event. 

We have a team of trained medical and first aid staff at Afro Nation Portugal. Should you experience any issues or feel unwell please look out for the flags or ask your nearest member of staff. 


Prescribed Medication 

If you need to bring prescription medicine to the event, please ensure this is brought in its original packaging with the prescription paperwork in your name, we will also need to see photographic ID.
