ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

Afro Nation is proud to be the first international festival to partner with Nimbus Disability and the Access Card Scheme for the third year running, reaffirming our commitment to creating an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all attendees, regardless of accessibility needs.

We offer assisted entry and exit, escorting guests with mobility challenges and +1 essential companions via a hard standing trackway and bypassing the sand directly to our Accessible Viewing Platform, where the atmosphere is electric and the view is unbeatable.

Throughout the festival, our dedicated Customer Experience Team will be available at the festival entrance and the Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) to ensure your comfort, safety, and enjoyment. If you need assistance at any time, just speak to a member of the team - we’re here to help.

In the spirit of transparency, we recommend General Admission tickets as the most accessible option, thanks to their proximity to the Accessible Viewing Platform. While VIP and Golden tickets offer exclusive benefits, they are located further across sandy terrain, which will pose challenges for guests with limited mobility.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Afro Nation Portugal - come celebrate with us, soak up the vibes, and enjoy a festival experience that’s made for everyone!

Please note that all accessibility spaces have now been sold. However, customers with the +1 symbol on their Access Card are still eligible for a complimentary essential companion ticket.

If you require an essential companion and hold a valid Access Card: 👉 Contact us here.

Refunds:

Since this ticket is complimentary, it is not refundable.

Responsibilities:

Your Essential Companion will be your guide throughout the festival, assisting with your specific needs. From ensuring your comfort to helping in emergencies or evacuations, they've got your back - and so do we!

Accessible Viewing Platform

We kindly request that all essential companions give seating priority to Access Card holders whilst on the AVP.

Our Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) is designed with inclusivity in mind, ensuring you can revel in the vibrant beats and infectious energy without missing a moment. Embracing the spirit of unity and celebration, our platform is situated in our General Admission area facing the main stage and is open to Accessibility ticket holders with limited mobility and their +1 essential companion.

Refreshments, Ramp access, wheelchair-friendly toilets, and electrifying vibes define our platforms.

Operating on a first-come, first-served basis, our platforms are in high demand, especially when the music reaches its peak. If the platform reaches full capacity, we seamlessly transition to a one-in, one-out policy. This ensures a dynamic flow of energy and guarantees that everyone gets a chance to experience the magic of Afro Nation Portugal.

Please note, we currently do not have an Accessible Viewing Platform at the Piano People stage!

ASSISTED ENTRY & EXIT

Our Customer Experience Team (C.E.T) will personally escort all Access Card Holders and their essential companions in and out of the festival each day, ensuring a smooth and crowd-free entry and exit experience.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE TEAM (C.E.T)

For assistance at any time, our Customer Experience Team is here to help. They are always stationed at the Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) & festival entrance.

Is Afro Nation Wheelchair friendly?

We want to ensure that everyone has a fantastic experience at Afro Nation Portugal. However, we must advise those with limited mobility to consider their comfort when choosing their tickets. The festival venue is situated on fine sand, which will pose challenges for mobility. In the spirit of transparency, we recommend our General Admission tier for wheelchair users and our guests with limited mobility who need quick access to the AVP platform. While VIP and Golden tickets come with exclusive perks, navigating the sandy terrain will be challenging.

Is there a specific entrance/exit for disabled customers?

Yes, we have a dedicated entrance and exit for Access Card holders. More information will be provided in your Access Guide closer to the festival!

Are there visual alerts and signage throughout the festival for important information?

Yes, we implement visual alerts on our big screen and signage around the festival.

Do you have an accessible viewing platform?

We have an Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) in our General Admission area facing the main stage. If you do not have any mobility challenges, we kindly ask that you leave this space for those that truly need it.

Will I have problems walking around if I have mobility challenges?

Our festival is on fine sand throughout the venue. If you are looking to move around the festival and have limited mobility, you will find it difficult to navigate the sandy terrain. We have a hard standing trackway in our General Admission area to the Accessible Viewing Platform. We highly recommend that those with limited mobility choose our General Admission tickets!

Do you provide essential companion tickets

If your Access card has the +1 symbol, you will be provided with an Essential Companion ticket.

I can’t queue for long periods; how can I access the festival easily?

Not a problem, we have a designated entry point for those with limited mobility and our Customer Experience Team (C.E.T) will escort you passed the queues and straight to the Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP). More information will be included in your Access Guide closer to the festival.

Does the bag policy apply to accessible ticket holders?

Our bag policy applies to all guests. However, if you need to bring necessary essentials with you, please contact us directly here so we can advise you further.

Is it possible to skip the queue for refreshments & toilets?

To unlock your queue-jump perks, just check in with our Customer Experience Team (C.E.T) when you arrive. We'll walk you through exactly how it works so you can enjoy the vibes. Full details will be included in your Access Guide.

Can my Essential Companion collect my wristband for me?

Yes, they can! Your wristbands will be available at the Customer Information Point located at the festival entrance. Full details will be included in your Access Guide.

Does Faro International Airport provide assistance for those with mobility challenges?

Yes they do! You must request this service from your airline or travel agent upon booking your trip, or up to 48 hours before the published time for the departure of the flight. The information will be transmitted by the airline to Faro International. More information can be found here. Please note, Afro Nation is not affiliated with Faro International Airport or the MyWay Assistance Service. We are sharing this information with permission to help enhance your travel experience.

PRAI DA ROCHA SURROUNDING AREA – WHEELCHAIRS & LIMITED MOBILITY

Please note that the surrounding area of Praia da Rocha Beach may present challenges for guests with limited mobility and those in wheelchairs. The terrain includes uneven surfaces, steep inclines, and few step-free routes. In addition, after the festival ends each night, the area becomes extremely busy as thousands of guests make their way out, which can make navigation more difficult. We strongly recommend planning ahead and securing accommodation nearby to ensure a more comfortable experience. Once you arrive at the festival, our team will escort you directly to the Accessible Viewing Platform, and we’ll escort you back out when you’ve had enough of the vibes!

TEMPORARY IMPAIRMENTS

Please note that Afro Nation Portugal takes place on fine sand, and our accessibility facilities are specifically designed for guests with long-term mobility needs. Unfortunately, they are not equipped to support individuals with temporary impairments such as recent injuries, healing fractures, or expectant mothers.

Afro Nation involves a significant amount of movement and activity throughout the day, so we kindly ask all guests to consider their personal comfort and mobility before attending. For safety reasons, chairs are not permitted within the festival grounds.

Should you sustain an injury during the event, our team will do their best to accommodate you on the Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP). However, please be aware that access is not guaranteed, as this space is reserved for Access Card holders and is subject to limited capacity.

We appreciate your understanding and encourage all guests to plan ahead to enjoy Afro Nation Portugal safely and comfortably.

EFFECT LIGHTING

Afro Nation Portugal may feature smoke machines, strobe lights, lasers, fireworks, and other dazzling effects to amplify the experience. Attendees sensitive to these elements are kindly advised to take note, and plan accordingly.

MEDICATION

For those bringing essential medication to Afro Nation Portugal, we encourage you to plan ahead for a worry-free experience. Consider bringing a copy of your doctor's letter or prescription, and ensure your medication is kept in its original packaging. We understand the importance of proper storage, and for those requiring cold storage, rest assured that fridges will be available. Your health is paramount, and to facilitate a seamless festival experience. Please reach out us here in good time before the festival if you require any medication storage needs.

GROUND CONDITIONS / WEATHER

Embrace the natural beauty of Praia da Rocha beach as the backdrop to Afro Nation Portugal 2026. It's important to note that the ground level comprises fine sand, which will pose challenges for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. However, to mitigate this, our hard-standing floor provides direct access to the Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP), offering a comfortable and accessible space for wheelchair users and guests with limited mobility. Given the beach setting and the uncovered nature of our Accessible Viewing Platform, please be mindful of sandy conditions and plan your attire accordingly.
